UVc is a high intensity full spectrum germicidal light. This intense light deactivates pathogenic cells through 4 primary mechanisms within the cell.

UVc is a high intensity full spectrum germicidal light. This intense light deactivates pathogenic cells through 4 primary mechanisms within the cell.

1. Photohydration: It causes water molecules to be pulled into the DNA of the pathogenic cells, preventing the cells from surviving or multiplying. DNA is the cells instructions for life and water molecules dissolve those instructions.

2. Photosplitting: It breaks apart the DNA splitting it into millions of fragments that can't be repaired.

3. Photodimeriziation: The fusion of DNA strands renders the DNA inactive as well

4. Photocrosslinking: It is one of the most powerful form of damage. It deforms proteins that give structure to the cell walls. When the cell wall is damaged, bacteria is sliced or burst open. This eviscerates the cell and is lethal to pathogens.

The maximum duration of one cycle should not be more than 5 minutes.
